Bats Need Extra Innings to Top Bellflowers, 4-2
The Whitby Bats picked up a win at Wegman's Field, taking down the Buffalo Bellflowers, 4-2. Starting pitcher Vinny Padilla was a big reason why. Chris Johnson notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. His record now sits at 4-3. The third-place Bats have won 6 in a row.

Whitby used the clutch hitting of Josh Gillespie to snag the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the 16th inning to put the Bats ahead, 4-2. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

"No one wins," Gillespie said, "without the will to win."
