Borrego Springs Rams starter Davey Swenson pitched a strong game against the Abingdon Archers at Reagor Dykes Stadium, leading the Rams to victory, 5-3. Swenson picked up the win for Borrego Springs, going 5.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 1 hits. He now sports a record of 2-3. Marco Montes earned the save, his 2nd.

Mike MacPherson had a big 2-run home run for the Rams in the top of the first inning. With Borrego Springs leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a splitter from 18-year old right-handed pitcher Jim Unknown and swatted a home run to left. It was his 30th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rams ahead, 3-0.

"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," MacPherson told the Borrego Springs Gazette. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."

The Rams now own a record of 61-45.
