Moncton Mounties starter Mark Luby turned in a top-notch performance against the Long Island Torpedoes at Mapleton Yards. The result was a win for the Mounties, 4-2. Juan Gutierrez notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now sits at 6-7. Earning his 7th save of the year was Terence Rodda.
Corey Pope drew 2 walk for Moncton. The 20-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Miguel Perelsa. It was his 12th walk of the season.
"I thought we played a nice game," Pope told the Moncton Times. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
Moncton has now won 4 in a row.
