|
Starting pitcher Danny Guerrero gave the Long Island Torpedoes a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Moncton Mounties, 2-1, at Centerville Grounds. In 7.1 innings, Guerrero surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Jesus Perez collected save number 7.
Miguel Vazquez cracked a home run off Jorge Sanchez in the bottom of the seventh. His solo blast put the Torpedoes on top, 2-1. In all, Vazquez had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 2.
"Danny had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Long Island manager Moises Gonzalez.
Long Island is 46-56 and Moncton, with the loss, 65-37.
