Buffalo Bats Quiet in 6-1 Loss
|
Josh Poehlein, who is tied for 6th in the NC in strikeouts with 94, never let the Bellflowers get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his slider, to pitch the Bats to a win, 6-1. In 5.1 innings, Poehlein surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 4. He allowed 1 run. With the win, the Bats have a record of 76-22.
Lamar Bridges, who is tied for 3rd in the NC with a .406 batting average, took Buffalo hurler Daniel Hernandez deep in the top of the second. His 2-run home run put the Bats on top, 2-0. In all, Bridges had 2 singles in addition to the home run, while going 3 for 5.
"We've got a great group of guys," Bridges said, "and we're having fun right now."
