The Whitby Bats beat the Buffalo Bellflowers, 19-9, at Eláguila Stadia. The win was due in part to designated hitter Randy Ruhl, who slugged 3 home runs, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 7. Rich Zula went 6 innings for Whitby to pick up the win. The left-hander was charged with 4 runs. He scattered 7 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. His record improves to 2-0.

Arturo Tinoco aided the Whitby cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first. For the game, the center fielder was 3-5 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI.

"We've got some hairy guys on our side, too," said Whitby manager Mike Boyd.
