Torpedoes Get Past Saint Pierre and Miquelon, 12-11
The Long Island Torpedoes overcame a pretty good performance by Saint Pierre and Miquelon left fielder Jeremy Vetsch, beating the Pirates, 12-11, at Centerville Grounds. Vetsch was 4-5 with 2 home runs and a double. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. With the win, Long Island has a record of 38-53. Saint Pierre and Miquelon falls to 31-60.

The decisive blow was delivered by Mike Schoer in the bottom of the 11th when he hit a run-scoring double off 19-year old right-handed pitcher Robert Esparza to win the game for Long Island. The home crowd went nuts.

"Baseball is a wild game -- a crazy game, sometimes," said Schoer.
