Bats Make It 4 Straight with 4-1 Win
|
Marty Matthews imposed his will on the Princes from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the right-hander spearheaded the 4-1 Whitby triumph. Ruben Espinoza closed the door for Whitby, picking up his 2nd save of the year. The Bats, now 48-39, have won 4 in a row.
Whitby took the lead, 3-1, on Nick Schultz's 16th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Lincoln pitcher Rafael Rivera in the bottom of the seventh.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Matthews told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
