Torpedoes Absorb 10-5 Loss at Mapleton Yards
The Moncton Mounties stopped the Long Island Torpedoes, 10-5, at Mapleton Yards. The Mounties got a big game from Chris Clark, who was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Javy Herrera got the win, improving to 11-1. He held the Torpedoes to 3 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 3. The Northern Conference East Division-leading Mounties have a record of 79-8.

Charlie Zimmerman had a big 2-run home run for the Mounties in the bottom of the third inning. With Moncton trailing 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a sinker from Roderick Cleaver, who is tied for 9th in the NC in quality starts with 4, and punished it. The result was his 23rd home run of the season, which put the Mounties on top, 4-3.

"This team keeps finding a way to win," said Moncton manager Johnny Hoffman.
