Thomas Hammers 2 Homers in 5-4 Win

Fans were not deterred by the threat of rain. They came to see their hometown Abingdon Archers take on the Long Island Torpedoes.
Abingdon designated hitter Cody Thomas was instrumental in helping the Archers triumph, 5-4, over the Long Island Torpedoes. Thomas went 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Jim Unknown, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-0. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 5. Jim Unknown finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Thomas had a timely hit for Abingdon in the bottom of the seventh. With Abingdon trailing 3-2, he turned a 0-1 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season, making it 5-3, Abingdon.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Thomas.
Abingdon, with the win, climbs to 20-68.
