Bats Pull Out Late-Game Win, 2-1
The Whitby Bats got a good effort from starter Julian Cantu in defeating the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates at Spinners Ballpark. The final score was 2-1. Whitby pitcher Victor Martinez got the win. He's now 3-0. Evan Sippel was tagged with the loss. The first-place Pirates dropped to 51-33.

Terry Hetzel came through with a big-time hit for Whitby. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Hetzel said.
