Torpedoes Snatch Late-Game, 3-2 Win
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Long Island Torpedoes and the Tiverton Colonels, pitcher Jeff Zinn was the difference between victory and defeat. The Long Island right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Torpedoes win. Ken Yates finished to wrap up his 9th save. The Torpedoes win now puts them at 37-49.
In the top of the ninth, Long Island got a clutch hit from Andrew Ortiz. The first baseman belted a solo home run, putting the Torpedoes up, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a decisive one.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Zinn.
