The Whitby Bats got a magnificent performance from pitcher Chris Huyard, who muffled the Terra Linda offense en route to a tight, 3-0 Bats win at Eláguila Stadia. The third-place Bats lifted their record to 41-39.

Huyard, who dominated for Whitby, earned the victory to move to 1-0. He was in control the whole game, scattering 2 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 5. Terra Linda batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.

"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Huyard.
