Javy Herrera brought his A-game to help Moncton defeat the Whitby Bats, 4-1. Herrera, the winner, moves to 6-1. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks. The Mounties saw their win-loss record go to 51-28. At the same time, the Bats fell to 62-17.

The Mounties got an important contribution from third baseman David Raney, who in the top of the fourth punched a 1-1 fastball to right for a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Mounties ahead, 3-0.

"I'm happy we won," said Herrera. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
