Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Torpedoes
Despite a great performance by Whitby designated hitter Jeff Given, the Long Island Torpedoes defeated the Bats by the score of 5-4 at Centerville Grounds. Given was 2-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The win went to Matt Bogucki in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Steve McManus took the loss. The Torpedoes improved their record to 30-50 by beating Whitby.

The Torpedoes got a clutch hit from first baseman Steve Jahn. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Torpedoes.

In postgame comments to the Long Island Times, Jahn said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
