Borrego Springs Beats Long Island, 6-4

Rams center fielder Steve Valkenburg left his mark on his team's 6-4 win over the Long Island Torpedoes. Valkenburg, who is tied for 10th in the NC with a .387 on-base percentage, went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Borrego Springs in the contest. Junji Tokunaga, now 3-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 3.2 innings. Picking up the save was R.J. Eisen, his 4th.
Borrego Springs relied on the hitting of Angelo Diaz to pick up the win. The designated hitter ripped a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rams on top, 6-1. For the game, Diaz had 1 triple and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"Enjoyed this one," Diaz told the Borrego Springs Gazette. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
This win makes it 7 in a row for Borrego Springs.
