Shafer goes 4-for-5 in Moncton Win
The Moncton Mounties defeated the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates, 19-6, at Mapleton Yards. Leading the charge for Moncton was left fielder Danny Shafer. He went 4-5 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Juan Lopez, who is tied for 10th in the NC with a 1.53 WHIP, was the winner in relief. His record is now 7-0. The losing pitcher was Jose Polanco. By defeating Saint Pierre and Miquelon, the first-place Mounties improved to 57-18.

Marc Alexander had a big 3-run home run for the Mounties in the bottom of the first inning. With Moncton leading 3-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a sinker from Jose Polanco, who is tied for 6th in the NC in innings pitched with 76.0, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Mounties on top, 6-0.

"Whenever I help the team," said Alexander, "it sort of justifies my place on the roster."
