Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Mapleton Yards.

The Tiverton Colonels beat the Moncton Mounties, 6-3, in 10 innings. Tiverton pitcher and Santiago, Dominican Republic, native Rodrigo Castillo led the way. Hugo Fuentes picked up his 1st save of the season.

Tiverton took advantage of an error in the top of the tenth inning. The game was tied, 3-3, when Luke Lyon hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Colonels in front, 4-3.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Castillo. "Successful pitchers do it."

The Colonels now own a record of 53-20.
