Franklin took on Long Island in front of a lively crowd.

The Franklin Cubs withstood a fine game by Long Island center fielder Shungyosai Tanno at Centerville Grounds, to upend the Torpedoes, 8-5. Tanno was 3-4 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Franklin pitcher Derek Sigers got the win, upping his record to 2-0. Daniel Williams got the loss. The save went to Rich Sargent, number 4 for him.

In the top of the eighth, Franklin right fielder Tony Bradshaw had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Bradshaw stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 7-5, Franklin. For the game, he went 2 for 4 with 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Bradshaw said. "We did a good job of that today."

With the win, Franklin goes to 35-37, while the Torpedoes fall to 28-44.
