Cubs Deal Bats 5-1 Defeat
|
The Franklin Cubs racked up a win at Eláguila Stadia, bumping off the Whitby Bats, 5-1. Mike Bruce, who started for Franklin, pitched effectively for his team. Bruce yielded 1 run over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 4, and struck out 0. His record improves to 1-1. The win has Franklin at 20-49.
Paul Dankenbring had a big 2-run home run for the Cubs in the top of the fourth inning. With Franklin leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a cutter from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Tommy Daniello and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Cubs on top, 3-0.
"Mike showed what he's made of," said Franklin manager Alec Roller.
