Franklin Gets 3-1 Win
|
The Franklin Cubs picked up a win at Field of the Colonels, topping the Tiverton Colonels, 3-1. On the mound for Franklin was left-hander Eric Mohr. He played a principal role in the triumph. Franklin is now 36-34, Tiverton 33-37.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Curt Lirette? The 19-year old third baseman Lirette stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Franklin up, 3-1. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Dave Maloney.
