Nosediving Colonels Lose, 5-1
|
Buffalo used a superb performance from starting pitcher Wayne Wright to down the Tiverton Colonels, 5-1. Wright, the winner, moves to 3-2. He threw 5 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up no walks. Steve Ray, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Tyler Tolbert, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2021 draft, came through for Buffalo with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. The right fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 1 RBI.
Wright attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
The 4th-place Colonels have lost 8 consecutive games.
