The Moncton Mounties defeated the Long Island Torpedoes, 5-0, in Northern Conference action at Centerville Grounds. Moncton pitcher Steve Oswald had a standout performance. Moncton reliever Steve Oswald got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Geert Brown was tagged with the loss. The 4th-place Mounties raised their record to 38-31.

Collin Mays, the 18-year old right fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Mays contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fourth inning to put Moncton up, 2-0.

"Enjoyed this one," Oswald told the Moncton Times. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
