Bellflowers Win Thriller, 3-1
|
The Buffalo Bellflowers defeated the Moncton Mounties, 3-1, at Wegman's Field. Leading the charge for Buffalo was third baseman Cesar Mena. He hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Buffalo improves to 46-19 with the win. They lead their division by 4½ games.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Mena hit a fastball from John Sherline for a 2-run home run. The Bellflowers, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"We take it day by day here," said Mena, "and today was a good one for us."
