The Borrego Springs Rams had to overcome a fine effort from Moncton pitcher Tony Vega to win, 4-2, at Mapleton Yards. Vega went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Borrego Springs, now 41-19, has won 12 straight games.

Borrego Springs used the timely hitting of David Johnson to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rams on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Johnson told the Borrego Springs Today. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
