Salcido Rips 2 Home Runs in 9-1 Archers Triumph

The Abingdon Archers picked up a win, 9-1, over the Whitby Bats at Eláguila Stadia. Ron Salcido led the charge. The Atlanta, Georgia native went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 for Abingdon. Kevin Clinger picked up the win, lifting his record to 1-0 on the season. He struck out 4 and walked 1 in 8.2 innings, while yielding 1 run. Abingdon now sits at 27-29, while Whitby falls to 45-11.
Kyle Scherbel had a big 2-run double for the Archers in the top of the second inning. With Abingdon leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a sinker from Marty Matthews and swatted a double to left. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Archers ahead, 4-0.
"Things kind of got away from us," said Whitby skipper David Sawyers.
