The Franklin Cubs got a sterling performance from pitcher Jim Stuppy, but the Long Island Torpedoes still prevailed, 6-5. Stuppy threw 8.2 innings of 3-hit ball. Marvin Cook was the winner. Over 7.2 innings, he yielded 4 runs on 9 hits, with no walks and 7 strikeouts. Glen Foster earned the save for Long Island.

Long Island used a clutch at-bat from Eddie Hull to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Torpedoes ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Franklin manager Alec Roller.
