Streaking Pirates Win Another One, 3-2
|
Spinners Ballpark was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates and Whitby Bats.
Saint Pierre and Miquelon Pirates starter Matt Cafiero turned in a sterling performance against the Whitby Bats, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. The winner in relief was Eddie Remington. He is now 1-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Antonio Villareal got the save, the 3rd for him this season.
Had Izzy Leyva not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Leyva hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Pirates.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Leyva told the Saint Pierre and Miquelon Chronicle.
The winning continues for Saint Pierre and Miquelon, with the latest making it 16 straight.
