The Whitby Bats and Long Island Torpedoes provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Long Island Torpedoes eked out a 1-0 win versus the Whitby Bats at Eláguila Stadia. Nobody did more than pitcher Armando Castro. He was terrific. The winning pitcher was Castro, now 2-4. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 2. Chad Elder got the save, the 7th for him this season.

Santiago Ytuarte had a direct impact on the outcome. Ytuarte contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Long Island up, 1-0.

Ytuarte said his team "played with determination."

Long Island is now 19-31, Whitby 41-9.
