Golden Gophers Reel Off Another Win
The Little Rock Golden Gophers topped the Providence Hex, 7-2, with youngster Ivan Hernandez playing a key role. Hernandez went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Golden Gophers in the win. Vinny Alvarenga, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. Providence, with the loss, is still a robust 6-2.

Tyler Talton hit a run-scoring double off Miguel Perez in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Golden Gophers in front, 3-2. In addition to the double, Talton had 1 single and 2 walks, while going 2 for 3.

Said losing manager Dave Hale: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
