Golden Gophers Best Desperados in Pitching Duel
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Little Rock Golden Gophers and the Medford Desperados, 22-year old right-handed pitcher Andy Yule was the difference-maker. The Little Rock right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Eddie O'Connor got credit for the save for Little Rock. It was his 4th of the year. The Golden Gophers boast a remarkable 26-4 record.
Little Rock took a 2-1 lead on Chris Benedict's 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Benedict hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Medford pitcher Julian Cantu visibly frustrated.
"We did just enough to win," Benedict said.
