Lynx Win by Slim Margin, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Ottawa Lynx and the Newport Unicorns, 21-year old right-handed pitcher Tony Vigil proved to be the difference. The Ottawa right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Lynx win. Ottawa pitcher Ricardo Flores got the win. He's now 2-0. Alex Almanza was tagged with the loss. Earning his 2nd save of the year was Esteban Montoya.
Ottawa needed the clutch hitting of Nick Makar to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Lynx on top, 2-1. For the game, Makar had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We came out on top and that's all I can ask for," said Vigil.
The win has Ottawa at 15-9.
