The Winchester Mountaineers got a strong performance from pitcher Jaheim Johnson, who stymied the visiting Sonoma Scorpions en route to a win, 5-1, in Game 2 of the World Series. The Scorpions could never get a bead on the left-handed Johnson, who threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball. The Mountaineers now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.

Jeremy Alfano helped his team take an early lead with a 3-run home run. It came in the first inning, making the score 4-0, Mountaineers.

Said losing manager Keith Young: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."

Game 3 is scheduled for Sunday at Ballpark of North Richland Hills in Sonoma.
