Westwood Wins to Cut Orono Lead to 3-2
The Westwood Bruins have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Orono Oaks, winning, 5-2, at University of Maine Stadium. Bruins right-hander John Blackman threw 6.2 innings allowing 2 runs. The win cuts the deficit facing the Bruins to 3-2 in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Paul McComas? The 33-year old first baseman McComas stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put Westwood up, 4-2. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.

"John did a good job of managing their lineup," said Westwood manager Hasan Raif.

The next game is set to be played for Thursday, October 3rd , 2024 at Jackie Robinson Stadium in Randolph.
