Championship Series Game 1 Victory for Stevens and Charleston
|
The Charleston Shiners started the Championship Series in style, downing the visiting Maine Pines at Ballpark of Charleston by a score of 4-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Shiners left-hander Sean Stevens threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball.
In the bottom of the sixth, Jason Hasiak delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Charleston right fielder hit a run-scoring single, putting the Shiners in front, 4-3.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Hasiak said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Charleston in Charleston.
