Santa Barbara Takes 1-0 Series Lead with Walk-off Win
The Santa Barbara Super Troopers powered past the visiting Mt. Vernon Cyclones, 5-4, in the opener of the Division Series at Car Ramrod Park. Santa Barbara center fielder Jose Martinez was 2-3 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 times, to lead the charge. The Super Troopers now lead the series 1-0.

Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 22-year old third baseman Eric Propper had a real shot to win the game. Mt. Vernon pitcher Jeff Reade was determined not to let it happen. But with two outs, Propper hit a run-scoring single. The Super Troopers had a walk-off triumph.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Propper said in his postgame press conference.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Car Ramrod Park in Santa Barbara.
