Almost There: Wichita On Cusp of DS Triumph After 8-3 Win
The Wichita Panthers moved to within one game of the League Championship Series, downing the visiting Santa Barbara Super Troopers at Panthers Park by a score of 8-3. Panthers right-hander Edward Southey had a strong outing in which he threw 6.1 innings allowing 3 runs. The win gives the Panthers a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Division Series.

Chris Tomlinson, the Wichita catcher, contributed a 2-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 6-3, Panthers. For the game, Tomlinson went 1 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

Tomlinson told a Wichita Today reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
