Fremont Breaks Through for First Win in League Championship Series; Now Trails 3-1
|
The Fremont Marshalls have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Joilet Jesters, winning, 6-5, at Ballpark of Joilet. Marshalls designated hitter David Hollick went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. The win cuts the deficit facing the Marshalls to 3-1 in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Fremont used the timely hitting of Bill Hoeltke to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Marshalls on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"This team is real focused right now," said Fremont manager Matt Blade.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Joilet in Naperville.
