Mounties Win, Move to Within 1 Game of World Series
|
The Moncton Mounties are one game away from a sweep after downing the visiting Whitby Bats at Mapleton Yards, 9-4. Mounties second baseman Joe Corcoran went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Moncton now holds a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Corcoran had an important at-bat with runners on 1st and 2nd in the bottom of the seventh, when he hit a run-scoring single. The Mounties went on to win.
"This was a nice win for us," said Corcoran. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Mapleton Yards in Moncton.
