Ft. Wayne Wins to Cut Crystal Lake Lead to 3-2
The Ft. Wayne Earthquakes have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Crystal Lake Killers, winning, 4-1, at Killer Stadium. Earthquakes right-hander Jerry Maciaszek threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Earthquakes to 3-2 in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

Ft. Wayne used a clutch at-bat from Chris Benedict to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Earthquakes ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We're one game closer to our goal," Ft. Wayne manager Du-sung Moon said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."

Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at Earthquakes Stadium in Ft. Wayne.
