Wagner Blasts Alpines, Super Troopers Take Game 5, 6-3
|
The Santa Barbara Super Troopers have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Savannah Alpines, winning, 6-3, at Alpines Stadium. Super Troopers third baseman Doug Wagner was 1 for 2 with a home run and 3 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Super Troopers to 3-2 in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Santa Barbara used the timely hitting of Jaden Williams to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Super Troopers on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Wagner. "Those qualities define our team."
The next game is set to be played for Friday, September 27th , 2024 at Car Ramrod Park in Santa Barbara.
