Rockets Hammered by Ayres, Drop Game 3 to Jet Hawks
The Grand Rapids Jet Hawks have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Huntsville Rockets, winning, 7-6, at Jet Hawks Ballpark. Jet Hawks right fielder Mike Ayres went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The win cuts the deficit facing the Jet Hawks to 2-1 in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

With the game tied, 6-6, in the bottom of the seventh, Ayres had a key at-bat for Grand Rapids. With a runner on 2nd, Ayres hit a run-scoring double off Jason McCoart, making the score 7-6, Jet Hawks.

"The competition leap this year was tough to adjust to and I feel like there has been another jump in the playoffs," said Ayres, a rookie this season. "You're only playing the best now and everyone has time to rest and prepare for you."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Jet Hawks Ballpark in Grand Rapids.
