Thrashers Hammered by Valdez, Fall Further Behind in DS
Riding the 3-hit performance of shortstop Jose Valdez, the Ft. Wayne Earthquakes got a road win against the Haviland Thrashers, 9-4, in Game 3 of the Division Series. Valdez went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4 for the Earthquakes, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 3 games to 0.

In the top of the first, Valdez pounced on a first pitch fastball from Russ Burleson and hit a grand slam home run. It put Ft. Wayne on top, 4-0.

"It was a good day but I'm not letting my guard down," Valdez said. "I'll let my guard down as soon as someone puts a big, fat championship ring on my finger."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Haviland in Haviland.
