The Ft. Wayne Earthquakes powered past the visiting Jacksonville Nationals, 16-7, in the opener of the Division Series at Earthquakes Stadium. Jacksonville right fielder Kenneth Bates was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the losing squad. The Earthquakes now lead the series 1-0.

Making an impact for Ft. Wayne was catcher Justin Bush. Dingus drilled a run-scoring double off Mike Riddle in the bottom of the second. For the game, Bush was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 3 times.
