Swenson, Super Troopers Take Dramatic Game 1 for 1-0 Series Lead
|
The Santa Barbara Super Troopers started the Division Series in dramatic fashion, stealing Game 1 from the Sikeston Shamrocks in a walk-off in the 17th inning. Santa Barbara took the 3-2 win thanks in large part to a good day from starter Davey Swenson. The right-hander threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball in the win, which gave the Super Troopers a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-7 series.
The clutch hit was provided by Eric Propper. He delivered a walk-off run-scoring single off Israel Parez in the bottom of the 17th.
In postgame comments, Swenson told the Santa Barbara News: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Car Ramrod Park in Santa Barbara.
