Banales Blisters (TOR) Hermosillo
|
The (SF) Newport News Shipbuilders stopped the (TOR) Hermosillo Spectres by a score of 3-2 at Newport Park, with the lion's share of the credit going to third baseman Richard Banales. The 23-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Banales said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Banales did just that in his 8 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Spectres.
"Not much that I can say," offered (TOR) Hermosillo manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Richard Banales singled in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th, grounded out in the 12th and flied out in the 14th.
This season, Banales is swinging the bat at a .373 rate with 28 hits in 75 at-bats. To date he has hit 7 home runs, scored 12 runs and driven in 20.
