Division Series Game 1 Victory for Balletta and Encinitas
The Encinitas Eskimo Brothers started the Division Series in style, downing the visiting Riverside Rotters at EBDBBNB Park by a score of 8-1 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Eskimo Brothers left-hander Tom Balletta threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball.

In the bottom of the fourth, Encinitas right fielder Steve Valkenburg had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Valkenburg stroked a bases-clearing double to center. It made the score 5-1, Encinitas. For the game, he was 1-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

Valkenburg said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
