Dean Helps Little Rock Take Division Series Game 1
|
The Little Rock Golden Gophers started the Division Series in style, downing the visiting Providence Hex at Little Rock Grounds by a score of 4-1 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Golden Gophers third baseman Matt Dean went 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs.
Dean had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth to put Little Rock in front, 4-1. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run double off Providence pitcher Juan Ramirez.
"This was a nice win for us," said Dean. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Little Rock Grounds in Little Rock.
