The Little Rock Golden Gophers beat the Newport Unicorns, 6-4, at Chanticleers Ballpark. Little Rock second baseman Dan McNamara led the way. He went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Andy Yule got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 6.1 innings. The Golden Gophers, now 13-1, have had a terrific start to the season.

With one out in the top of the seventh, Bobby Barnes had a game-changing hit. The Golden Gophers first baseman slammed a run-scoring single off Juan Rodriguez, making the score 4-2, Little Rock.
