It went the distance, but the Kansas Jayhawks finally disposed of the Cincinnati Bearcats 2-0 in the series clincher at Hoglund Ballpark.

Winning the finale gave the Jayhawks the series, 2-1. They will now advance to the Final 4.

The Most Valuable Player Award went to Kansas catcher Bob Parent. He batted .500 in the series, collecting 0 RBIs and scoring 2 runs.

"Bob deserves it," said Jayhawks manager Steve Kirchen. "He was the glue that held our club together."

The Kansas Jayhawks will play against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the next round. Alabama won their series against the Iowa State Cyclones 2 games to 0. The Final 4 schedule will be announced after the Elite 8 finishes.
