Golden Gophers Earn 4-2 Home Win
The Little Rock Golden Gophers topped the Providence Hex by a score of 4-2. Leading the way was shortstop Kevin Shimizu. Shimizu went 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Golden Gophers. The Golden Gophers, now 5-0, have hit the ground running this season.

Shimizu contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Little Rock in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 2-1, Shimizu took a slider from Juan Contreras and stroked the home run to left. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Golden Gophers to leap in front, 3-2.

"I like our mindset right now," said Little Rock manager Jose Moreno.
