The Moncton Mounties got a sterling performance from pitcher Brian Gay, but the Moriarty Suns still prevailed, 7-3. Gay threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. Donato Albuquerque, credited with the win, is now 4-0. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits. Oliver Wood closed the door for Moriarty, picking up his 11th save of the year.

The outcome might have been different for Moriarty, had it not been for Oscar Cordova, the 22-year old left fielder . Cordova stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Moriarty up, 4-3. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Cordova told the Moriarty News. "It's as simple as that."

Today's win puts Moriarty at 31-16, while Moncton falls to 25-22.
